It wouldn’t be right for me to go to New River Gorge National Park and not talk about the Canyon Rim Visitors center and the amazing view of the New River Gorge Bridge. Not far from the Endless Wall Trail is the Canyon Rim Visitors center. This is one of several visitors centers in the park, but the only one I visited. It is a great place to start your adventuress.
While there you can view a gallery of history about the New River Gorge’s past and its journey to becoming one of the newest National Parks and preserves. Additionally, if you are a National Park junkie like me, you can collect your much needed National Park Service Unigrid Map and any merchandise that you might find yourself in need of. When I was there, the internet was down, so I would bring cash just in case. I am sure its not always down, but there is an ATM at the gas station before you enter the park if you find you need it. Additionally, the National Park Rangers and Staff are all extremely knowledgeable and helpful. If you are looking to do something specific or have questions, ask!

Obviously you can’t go to New River Gorge National Park without going to see the famous New River Gorge Bridge. This is a truly impressive feat of human engineering. And while most of the time I go to National Parks to avoid seeing human made things, this is different. Its scale is impressive. It is a short, but stair filled, walk from the Canyon Rim Visitors Center to the lookout point seen here. Highly Recommended.
