This will likely be the last post for 2023. As I look over the schedule for family and friends over the next week’s holidays, it looks like it will be a busy one. Not a bad problem to have for sure. So after thinking for a while, I thought this would be a good time to reflect on some of the things that made this one a memorable year before welcoming in 2024.
2023 will go down as the reawakening of my sense of adventure. In the years before, I had settled into a rut. Let the same things occupy my time. I allowed the wrong people and pursuits to use my time. Then Yellowstone National Park reminded me that there was so much out there. The road trip to get there reaffirmed a bond I have with my brother and all the possibilities that opened. 2023 was the start of this blog and beginning a fresh chapter after too much time writing in the wrong book.

2023 was a year of risks. It was letting new friends get close, letting old friends know how much they meant, and taking chances on people coming through. It was risking planning for a future of adventures and letting go of a past of disappointment.
2023 was (apparently) the year I became comfortable with putting it all on the line. Putting my heart back on my sleeve for those close enough to appreciate it. It was the year of putting the pieces of many painful lessons together into one hopeful mosaic. 2023 was a risk. And as I look forward, the future looks bright for the first time in a while. So to close out this final post of 2023, all I can say is look out 2024. Here we come.
