Hey, look at that, a second person on the trail with me this week. Seningen and I had to do a Saturday hike this week because its the only day it wasn’t gonna rain and we decided that we were going to head to White Clay Creek State park. We decided the Twin Valley Trail was the trail we would do in the truck on the way there.
We left from the Nature Center located off of Hopkins Road. Like the Tri-State Marker trail, this trail also came with a cool monument. This one was for the arc shaped border that Delaware shares with Pennsylvania. It even comes with a fun dial on the top to tell you where the border runs, so you can hop between each state. You will have to ignore the intense side eye that Seningen is giving in this picture, I promise it was meant for me, not you.

Like a lot of the trails on this side of White Clay Creek State Park, the Twin Valley trail had more in common with a Pennsylvania trail than that of a Delaware State park for sure. Overall the trail went up and down about 300 feet worth of elevation and cut through a lot of forests, fields, and ravines.
In addition to the natural views that you have, there are also a few man made ones that are cool to see. At a few spots along the trail, there are some ruins of old buildings. Here is Seningen investigates on of them near the end of the trail. The Trail also runs directly through the Carpenter Recreation area which has some playgrounds, cross country trails, bathrooms, picnic tables under a pavilion, and an amphitheater. If you have any skill, there is also an extensive frisbee golf course at the center. Seningen and I both suck, so we didn’t stop for a game.

Overall Rating:
Best Part: It is an interesting trail. Lots of elevation changes, cool things to see, and it is a decent distance to walk.
Worst Part: Hills and Thorns. If you are looking for a leisurely stroll, this one had both Seningen and I in the 100 beats per minute range most of the time, so it might not fit the bill. There are also some sections with angry thrones that like to grab you.
Views: Unique
Difficulty: Moderate
Recommendation: It is definitely a good hike, I would recommend it if you are looking for a good hike close to Newark.
