Hello Bear Country and happy Thanksgiving! Couldn’t think of a better time to do a review of the Turkey Point Lighthouse Trail then on Thanksgiving. On-point with theming, even if it was a complete accident. (Though I will totally pretend I had this all planned out from here on out.) The Turkey Point Lighthouse trail is one of my favorite trails and there is a few reasons for that to be the case. I will try to hit all the highlights in this post. A quick thing to note, Seningen and I did this trail after the Beaver Marsh hike, so again, these pictures are from earlier in the season before fall really hit.
First lets start off with the fact that the trail is not super long. Overall it comes out to be around 2.5 miles if you go the long way around (which I recommend). The trail is super easy to follow and has some truly remarkable views along the way. This beautiful bench spot is one of the areas that has some beach access. In addition to the beauty of the trail itself, the end of the trail has one of the best pay offs available for a trail so short.

At the end far end of this loop, you get a beautiful backdrop of the Turkey Point Lighthouse and this spectacular view off the cliffs into the Chesapeake Bay. This is the view from a bench right next to the lighthouse. Great place for a snack (which is definitely what we did). If you hike at the right time, you can also get a tour of the inside of the lighthouse itself.
- Overall Rating: Excellent
- Difficulty: Easy
- Views: Spectacular
- Best Part: The view from the Lighthouse and the cliffs.
- Worst Part: Not connected to the rest of the trails at Elk Neck, you have to drive over to the trail head.
- Recommendation: A must do for anyone visiting Cecil County Maryland.
