That’s right a two for one trail review week! Because Bohemia River State Park is much smaller than some of the other State Parks we visited, we really got a pretty good look at the trails it had to offer. We walked them all in fact. To be fair to the Watercress Trail and the map, as last time I ripped into the accuracy of the map, the Watercress blue trail is excellently marked and easy to follow. Unlike the Greenbrier, there is a blazer or sign everywhere you need one and the map is pretty accurate on its distance and shape. There are also no strange or difficult turns. Much easier to follow.
The first part of trail takes you through a beautiful piece of forest. The trail slopes through marked with blue blazers the whole way. There are a lot of cool trees and features as you go. Additionally there are plenty of acorns for Seningen to play with. So if you have an acorn enthusiast like we do, you can be sure that they will be plenty occupied on the trail. As you come to the end of the forested part of the trail, you cross a small wooden bridge and emerge into a hilly field wit a wonderful view of the Bohemia River and Burkalow Creek.

This wonderful view is what you can expect for the first part of the loop around the field. If your acorn collector has kept his payload, you will be close enough to give them a toss into the river from here. Very exciting There is a little bit of a hill to climb near the end of the loop that is somewhat challenging, but not terrible by any means. Definitely doable for anyone who has made it this far in the hike. After the hill, you just follow it back through the woods.
Final Rating:
Difficulty: Low-Moderate
Views: Very Nice
Best Part: View from the loop.
Worst Part: It is an out and back, so you have to rehash some of the same area you walked on the way out.
Recommended: Probably the best hike in Bohemia Park. If you only have time for 1, this is the one.
